Health benefits of mindfulness meditation
We stock a range of courses on mindfulness meditation which has a range of physical and mental wellbeing benefits. Here are just some of the ways in which mindfulness meditation could help you:
Mindfulness meditation works by helping users to focus on the present to giving them some space from debilitating anxious thoughts. Over time mindfulness has been proven to reduce anxiety. In a 2013 study in America in Massachusetts General Hospital Study, 93 individuals which had diagnosed generalised anxiety disorder took part in an eight week long course on mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) with the majority of them seeing a reduction in anxiety.
2. It can help to treat depression
Mindfulness based cognitive behavioural therapy has been proven to help people with depression. People with depression are often struggling with a lot of negative thoughts, feelings and beliefs about themselves and mindfulness helps them to focus on the present so that they are able to recognise what is happening in their mind so that they are able to engage with their thoughts in a different way.
3. It can help the brain to reduce distractions
In the modern age where our attention is being pulled in multiple directions, being able to concentrate is increasingly important and difficult to do in equal measures. Studies of participants who have engaged in an eight week mindfulness based programme all witnessed improved levels of concentration and suffered less from distractions.
